Stacey Peterrson Stacey Peterson woke one morning with the realization that her steady diet of engineering at a successful job with an oil company in Texas was not her passion. She was homesick for Colorado; it’s serenity and vast beauty. The creative side took over the technical side and she began to paint professionally.
An avid hiker, backpacker and tri-athlete, Stacey draws upon her time outdoors to provide inspiration for her landscape paintings. She often works on location using her plein air studies as reference for studio works that depict locations in the wilderness areas of the Rocky Mountain West.
While an appreciating disciple of the plein air movement, she understands painting outdoors is an essential tool for the landscape painter. But Stacey has her feet planted firmly in her studio utilizing her field studies to complete her landscapes. Her goals are simply – to capture the color and energy of a scene – those things that elude the lens of even the most skilled photographer.
Her warm tones blend carefully with the coolness of the near twilight skies and tranquil Colorado streams. The brushstrokes are intriguing – we delight in following from the beginning to end of each movement. Stacey’s decisions about composition, drama of color and value maybe carefully engineered but we are here to just enjoy the view.
