Afternoon with the artist demonstrations

Ron Hicks Supply and Materials

Paints and colors I use:

Titanium White/ Flake White
Burnt Umber
Ivory Black
Burnt Sienna or Quinacridone Orange (Grumbacher)
Yellow Ochre Light
Cadmium Yellow Medium
Cadmium Red Light or Vermilion
Florentine Lake or Scarlet Lake
Cerulean Blue
Ultra Marine Blue
Prussian Blue (occasionally)
Sap Green

Brushes:

Round Bristle Size 0 or 1
Filbert Bristle Size 6 and 8
(I use Grumbacher #4230 or
Winton fine hog or Robert Simmons)

Canvas:

Bring several canvases, gessoed boards, or etc. I mostly work on oil-primed linen. Each individual can bring sizes they are comfortable with working with. Since we may do small oil studies it may be a good idea to bring smaller canvas or boards to work out ideas on.

Drawing:

Sketch or News Print pad
Soft Vine Charcoal

Other Materials:

Students will need a portable set up (easel, palette, paper towels, and odorless thinner).
